While you’re wrapping up Christmas, make time to buy wrapping paper, stockings, holiday decorations and even Christmas trees for next year. The double-digit discounts and Christmas clearance sales have already started.
Discounts generally get bigger as the new year approaches, but you have to balance the possible savings with stock availability. We’ve made this list of stores that have the best after-Christmas decoration sales, so you can deck next year’s halls with stockings, ornaments, tree toppers and other Christmas decor for less.
Target
Target already has a few Christmas items marked 50% off on the Target Christmas decorations page, and those discounts will likely get deeper once Christmas is over.
Sears
The most generous discounts on Christmas decorations we found before Christmas Eve were at Sears, where Christmas trees and decor were already up to 60% off. Many of these deals are available in the Sears Christmas decoration section, where you can get free shipping for any order of $35 or more.
Crate & Barrel
Crate & Barrel has also already started its Christmas decorations clearance sale, and before Christmas Eve, the savings were already as high as 30%.
Home Depot
Holiday decor prices have already been slashed by up to 30% in Home Depot’s Christmas clearance sale well before Christmas Eve. If the item is available in a Home Depot store, you can even buy it online and pick it up in the store for free.
Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart already has discounts of up to nearly 40% in its Christmas clearance section. The discounts are sure to get much bigger after Christmas on Wal-Mart’s trees, giant inflatables, tree skirts, wreaths and more.
Big Lots
The Big Lots pre-Christmas sales circular has already announced that the After Christmas Clearance sale will begin at 7 a.m. on Dec. 26. Big Lots promises 25%-50% off on all Christmas trees, ornaments, indoor and outdoor decorations, and tinsel garland, with additional savings on wrapping paper and gift bags.
The discounts in this article were current as of Christmas Eve. Not all locations of a retail franchise will drop their Christmas clearance prices at the same time, so your timing will affect how much you save in stores.
