March madness is upon us, and we’re not just talking about the chaos on college basketball courts. Between cleaning house, preparing taxes and restarting workout regimens, spring is a busy time for many people.
Get your house, your clothing and yourself in shape for spring with these seven must-have apps that are free to download.
Get everything done: Wunderlist
Use Wunderlist to stay on track, whether you’re going to the grocery store or prioritizing household chores. The task management app lets you create, manage and share lists. You can also assign tasks, schedule due dates, and check items off once you’ve completed them.
Spruce up your wardrobe: Poshmark
To ready your closet for spring, you’ll need to get rid of the old and make room for the new. Enter Poshmark, a free fashion marketplace app.
Here’s how it works: You create an account and profile, which lists your sizing details, and upload pictures of clothing and accessories you want to sell. You can also shop in other people’s closets, snagging clothes for up to 70% off the retail price. This app is also available for Apple Watch.
Be a weekend warrior: wikiHow
Need help with those home improvement projects? Download the wikiHow app. It offers more than 180,000 how-to guides with step-by-step instructions, pictures and videos. Not only is the app free, but it may save you the cost of hiring a professional for some projects.
Turn trash into treasure: Goodwill
Give castoffs a new home with the Goodwill Locations app.
The app includes directions to your nearest Goodwill location and store hours. It also has a “donation impact calculator” that estimates how your giveaway will affect those who receive it.
Save a buck: RetailMeNot
If you’re making some major purchases this season — maybe a vacuum for cleaning or a tool set for household projects — download the RetailMeNot coupon app first.
RetailMeNot lists deals and coupons from more than 50,000 retailers and provides personalized recommendations and notifications when new deals arrive or old ones are about to expire. It’s also available for Apple Watch.
Get in shape: Workout Trainer
Download the Workout Trainer app on your phone or Apple Watch to boost your workouts before summer.
This workout app from Skimble gets great reviews and includes photos, videos and audio instructions for a variety of exercises. Whether you’re focused on yoga or weightlifting, you can use the download to motivate and guide you.
Hire someone to do it all for you: TaskRabbit
If that list of chores starts looking a little overwhelming, you can hire someone to help with TaskRabbit.
Post a task — such as cleaning, shopping, moving or handiwork — to the app and you’ll see hourly rates for the best qualified Taskers. Then you can choose which one to hire. The app is free to download, but if you hire someone, you’ll have to pay an hourly rate — with a minimum of one hour per task — as well as a service fee.
Don’t feel overwhelmed by the items on your to-do list. This spring, let your smartphone do the planning for you.
